Click HERE to see what percentage of Shirley's households have returned their U.S. Census forms today!
If you have already mailed back your U..S. Census form, thank you! If you have not yet mailed back your Census form, please do so now and include everyone in your household. This form is different than the Town Street Listing form you received from the Shirley Town Clerk's office earlier this year, so please complete your U.S. Census Form too!
If you haven't received a form, need a replacement form, or need assistance completing your form, please contact the U.S. Census Bureau's Telephone Questionnaire Assistance Center at 866-872-6868. You can provide your information over the phone or request that a form be mailed to you.
Toward the end of April and continuing through July, Census Takers employed by the Census Bureau will begin collecting census information from nonresponding households in a door-to-door field operation called "Nonresponse Follow-Up." For additional information about the U.S. Census (such as how it works, why it is important, how your answers are protected and employment opportunities) please visit www.census.2010.gov.
Google Fiber for Communities Request for Information
Community Survey
Dear friends and neighbors in the communities of Shirley, Harvard, Ayer and Devens:
Google plans to provide very high speed Internet connectivity, on the order of 100 times faster than anything commonly available today. A group of your fellow residents is preparing to respond to the Google Fiber for Communities Request for Information (RFI). Google will select a few communities and build the network as quickly as possible.
As part of the process of nominating our towns, we want to get input from as many people as possible. If you haven't heard of the project, or you want more information before you respond, click http://groups.google.com/group/next-gen-community to go to the Google group we have set up. There you will find links to the RFI, as well as an FAQ that Google provided.
Your input is highly valued, and we would welcome your joining the group if you would like to help. Please pass this on to any of your friends and neighbors that may not have heard about it.
