Shirley Town Meeting Procedures Update: Draft for Comment
The Shirley town moderator has drafted an update of the document Shirley Town Meeting Procedures, and is asking for comments and suggestions before finalizing it. No substantive changes were made to the document in the update. Minor changes include clarification of some of the meeting procedures, introduction of a procedure to reconsider or rescind for line items in the budget, inclusion of meeting practices which have become common over the past few years, and streamlining of the text.
Appointments to the Shirley Finance Committee, and (jointly with the Shirley Board of Selectmen and the Shirley School Committee) to the School Committee of the Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
Moderator for all Shirley town meetings.
Approval of activities in the town meeting place and in the immediate surrounding area. Examples of such activities are video recording of town meetings, and presentation of information to voters in the entry way outside the town meeting place by town-related groups.
Explanation of town meeting procedures, and information on options for dealing with a matter at a town meeting in order to accomplish a specific objective.
Available as moderator for other town-related meetings such as occasional pre-election candidate debates, and occasional public forums on topics of interest to the town.
