Welcome to the Shirley Trails Network!

We all know that Shirley is a great place to live, and it is also a great place to walk in the woods!  Did you know Shirley has beautiful trails that go by ponds and streams, forests and meadows? We have about 800 acres of protected land that can be explored during all seasons and the beautiful Nashua River forms our eastern boundary.

A trails map showing trails in the south central part of Shirley, the  area bounded by Holden Road, Center Road, and Catacunemaug Road. Please print it out for yourself and take it with you as you explore these beautiful trails right in our own backyard.

Parking:
There are places to park at five trailheads:
3 Pull-in spots for one or two cars partway off the road:
  • Holden Conservation Land on Holden Road
  • Ronchetti Conservation Area on Holden Road
  • Birchwood Hills Conservation Area on Catacunemaug Road just before the Lunenburg line
There are also 2 designated parking areas within the Birchwood Hills Town Home complex at the entrance by the postal building and at the top of the hill. (Follow the main road called Brook Trail)

Did you know? Studies have shown that walking in nature
  • improves short-term memory
  • restores mental energy
  • relieves stress
  • improves concentration and focus
  • boosts your immune system
A group of volunteers, have worked to clear, blaze and map the trails. There are more trails in Shirley to explore also. If you are interested in working with the Shirley Trails group, please contact [Link]Shirleytrails@gmail.com
