The goal of the Shirley Cultural Council is to help develop cultural programs in the Town of Shirley and to award and administrate Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) Grant funds. We are a volunteer board and are recommended to the Towns' Selectmen for appointment to the Shirley Cultural Council.

Funding Source: The Shirley Cultural Council receives an annual allotment from the Massachusetts Cultural Council which we are required to distribute through a Grant process.

Applications for the 2012 Grant Cycle are due Monday, October 17, 2011

Application forms for the Shirley Cultural Council’s 2012 grant cycle now are available and can be downloaded from the link below. Applications must be submitted to the Shirley Cultural Council or postmarked no later than Monday, October 17, 2011.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council provides funding to the local cultural councils to support public programs that promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences. The Town of Shirley has been awarded $3,870.00 for the 2011 grant cycle.

Local councils have the right and responsibility to award grants that address cultural needs specific to their community. The criteria the Shirley Cultural Council uses when awarding grants is the benefit of the project to the community, community involvement in the project and quality of project to be presented.
