When a Request for Determination of Applicability, a Notice of Resource Area Delineation, a Notice of Intent, or a Request for an Amendment to an Order of Conditions is filed and a public hearing or public meeting on the application is scheduled, the Wetlands Protection Act ( M.G.L. Chapter 131, Section 40 implemented by 310 CMR 10.00) requires a notice of the hearing to appear in a newspaper of general circulation in the city or town in which the land is located. The Commission also publishes notices when it holds hearings on policies it promulgates and other matters. When a meeting is continued, a notice is not published. When a Notice of Intent or a Request for an Amendment to an Order of Conditions is filed and a meeting scheduled, applicants are also required to notify abutters by certified mail (return receipt requested).
For your convenience, the Commission also posts copies of such notices here as soon as practicable after the issue of the Shirley Volunteer in which they appear has come out. Sometimes ads appear in the Shirley Oracle on the rare occasions when the Volunteer's issue dates are such that the ad can't appear in a timely fashion in the Volunteer.
