ZBA monthly meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:30pm on the second floor of the Town offices, unless otherwise posted. Residents who have questions regarding filing an application for a Variance or Special Permit are encouraged to attend these monthly meetings. Meeting Dates for January 2008 - June 2008 January 7, 2008 February 4, 2008 March 3, 2008 April 7, 2008 May 5, 2008 June 2, 2008 The Zoning Board of Appeals (often referred to as the ZBA) acts in a quasi-judicial capacity on : The issuance of certain special permits, Petitions from Variances from the requirements of the Shirley Protective Zoning Bylaws Appeals from the acts of the Building Inspector, or from failure of the Building Inspector to act in response to a complaint from a citizen. The Zoning Board of Appeals also has jurisdiction to act on application for comprehensive permits for subsidized housing, in which it coordinates review of all other local boards except the Conservation Commission. The Zoning Board of Appeals has power to receive testimony under oath. Most decisions of the ZBA may be appealed by an aggrieved to the District, Superior, or Land Court. |
