Water Safety Instructors
The Benjamin Hill Park Committee of the Town of Shirley seek qualified applicants for the positions of Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. These positions will report to the Park Director and have variable work hours Memorial Day to Labor Day as non-benefitted seasonal positions. The Town of Shirley is an AA/EO employer.
Experience and Training: Minimum age 16. Current certifications in American Red Cross (or comparable association) in the following: Life Guard Training, CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuers, Water Safety Instructor Certification, and any other as required by law. Ability to perform difficult lifesaving duties. Excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to water safety, understanding of standard lifeguard practices, ability to perform skills as needed to prevent or respond to emergencies, ability to maintain discipline and command respect from the general public, ability to function as part of a team with the pool/park staff.
Perform lifesaving and first aid duties and ensure safety of pool patrons at all times
Responsible for daily maintenance and cleaning of bathhouse, bathroom and grounds.
Assist with and enforce pool COVID-19 safety compliance procedures.
Enforce pool rules and regulations
Participate in pre-season training, staff training sessions and conditioning
Insure the proper use and night time storage of all safety equipment, pool supplies, and equipment
Be extremely alert and exhibit a high level of awareness. Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents.
Be courteous, consistent, helpful and informative to pool patrons. Assist with snack bar, party reservations, daily users and member applications and check-ins.
Administrative record keeping and any other duties as assigned.
