Safeguards put in place to prevent spread of coronavirus in Town buildings

At the Town Offices, we are here to serve you, the public — and your health and safety is important to us. We have instituted some safeguards to protect both the public and Town employees during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. We ask that you join us to keep everyone safe.

Safeguards

  • If you do not feel comfortable entering the Town Offices to conduct business, there is a secure drop-box outside of the main entrance where bills or other documents can be delivered.
  • We are wiping down public counters and areas that the public and workers frequently touch.
  • We are washing our hands with soap and water frequently and we ask that you do the same.
  • Our employees have been asked not to shake hands and we ask you to refrain from shaking hands as well.
  • Please cough or sneeze into a tissue, or your elbow if you have no tissue.
  • Please keep a safe social distance (6 feet) from others if possible.
  • If you have recently traveled outside of the country please do not come to any of the public buildings. Call or email us and we will be happy to assist you (please follow the CDC guidelines for self-quarantine).
  • Distance yourself from someone who appears sick.
  • If you have come in contact with someone who has been exposed to COVID-19, do not come to Town buildings.
  • If you are experiencing acute respiratory illness (cough, shortness of breath) and/or a fever greater than 100.4F, do not come to Town buildings.
  • If you have a cough or a fever and are later diagnosed with the coronavirus, please notify us immediately so that we can protect other residents and our employees.
  • If an outbreak occurs in Shirley, we will contemplate closing all public buildings to the public.
  • If someone in any of our municipal workplaces is diagnosed with COVID-19 virus, we will notify the public, close that building, and have it cleaned and sanitized before we re-open.
