What does the Town of Shirley Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee do?

  • Helps to sustain Shirley’s rural, small town character by planning for natural resources and open space conservation, historic resource protection and recreation.
  • Engages residents in prioritizing community and Town-led actions that are updated in the Shirley Open Space and Recreation Plan, every 5-7 years.
  • Develops, prioritizes and communicates actions in the Open Space and Rec Plan, that are needed to sustain Shirley’s rural, small town character and public recreation opportunities.
  • Partners with the Shirley Greenway Committee (insert link to Greenway Committee page and newsletters) to catalyze and implement key priorities.
  • Provides a centralized inventory of existing resources and a status report on open space and recreation conditions within the town.
  • Collaborates with other town boards, regional, state and federal entities to identify potential funding and knowledge resources for informing plan priorities.
