The Shirley Police Department established on February 10, 1936 is a professional organization, whose officers pride themselves in delivering services with the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and respect at all times. More than ever, we are members of the community wanting to make a difference. The Shirley Police Department is a dedicated and diverse group of professionals police officers who are committed to working with the community to make the Town of Shirley a safe and desirable place to live, work and play.

As Chief of Police and a 20 year veteran of the Shirley Police Department, I am extremely proud of the men and women of this agency. We are dedicated to reducing crime and providing for the safety of our citizens and visitors. The Shirley Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency committed to a safe and secure community through service, mutual cooperation and respect. Our goal is to provide the highest level of public safety and service to Shirley's residents, visitors and the community at large. The officers and I have embraced the six pillars of 21st Century Policing, which are; Building Trust and Legitimacy, Policy and Oversight, Technology and Social Media, Community Policing and Crime Reduction, Training and Education, Officer Safety and Wellness. 

We are proud to lead and participate in community engagement and services such as Senior Citizen Call in service, Juvenile Diversion Program, Motorcycle Patrols, Vacant House Checks, Citizen Ride Along Program, Senior Center Veterans Breakfast, College Internships, Pizza with the Police, Coffee with a Cop, National Drug Take Back Day, Public Safety Day and Fill the Cruiser Toy Drive. Chief Santiago has earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services/Criminal Justice from Springfield College graduating with honors (Cum Laude), a Master of Public Administration from Clark University, and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. Chief Santiago is also a recipient of numerous awards, the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, Commonwealth of Massachusetts House of Representatives Official Citation for Heroic Efforts to save a human life, U.S. Army Commanders Certificate for Outstanding Performance, NAPO (National Association of Police Organizations) Top Cop Award, Nashoba Publishing Extradionary Service Award Winner, and Nominee for the prestigious Trooper George L. Hanna Memorial Award for Bravery.
